Hearing aid technology has become much more affordable in recent years. Typically the cost of hearing aids will include the product bundled with the fees from the provider who is fitting the hearing aids for you. It is important to shop around because these fees can differ substantially from one provider to another and doing your research on a specific product may end up saving you thousands of dollars $.

Often providers who bundle there costs will add in additional fees for support for the life of the hearing aid which is often not required, at Independent Hearing we offer an unbundle approach clearly outlining the cost of the hearing aids. This gives our customers the option of choosing the level of support they wish to purchase allowing them to significantly reduce the cost of the devices in comparison with many of our competitors.

Depending on your situation you may also be eligible for funding support to assist with the purchase of your hearing aids. For example: Pension and DVA card holders who are eligible can receive fully funded hearing aids under the Office of Hearing Service program.

Here at Independent Hearing we provide a wide range of products to meet all needs and budgets and are fully accredited under the governments Office of Hearing Service program to provide subsidised services for eligible patients. Private Health rebates are also available and we offer 0% interest free payment plans to assist if required.

There are many reasons you should be careful if considering purchasing hearing aids online. Not all hearing aids are the same and the advice of an experienced hearing care professional is crucial when deciding on the right device to suit your specific needs.

Hearing loss  comes in many different types and degrees and for some people the use of a hearing aid may not be the best option to rehabilitate the disability. Therefore the purchase of a hearing aid may be a waste of your hard earned money.

Other considerations:

  • Hearing aids need to be programmed to your individual audiometric results
  • Hearing aids may need to be regularly adjusted
  • Are the hearing aids fit correctly
  • Hearing aids that aren’t programmed correctly may make your hearing loss worse
  • Are there medical issues that may restrict my ability to use a hearing aid

When you’re considering whether or not to purchase hearing aids it is important you are informed on both the benefits of hearing aids and the consequences of not treating the hearing loss.

Secondly you need to consider what your needs and lifestyle are like in order to make an informed decision on the hearing aids you may require. Someone who is working and still very socially active will require and totally different device compared to someone who is less socially active and spends a lot of time on their own.

At Independent Hearing we ensure all these considerations and options are clearly discussed with our customers during our Aid Discussion consultations. Still not sure then be reassured with our 30-Day money back guarantee on all devices, which gives you the peace of mind that you can trial the hearing aid(s) to assess the benefits before committing.
